What We Offer

“Most of the world is covered by water. A fisherman’s job is simple: Pick out the best parts.” - Charles Waterman

A half day trip on the water may be more fitting for families with younger children or in the heat of the summer when afternoon temperatures are high.

A 3/4 day trip has more built in fishing time, which enables anglers to hone their skills at a given technique, catch greater numbers of fish and more time to share your experience on the water.

Full day trips are a perfect chance to fish but also take an instructional lesson as well.

What We Offer

We fish the Catawba River system in its entirety. From Lake James to Wateree and the river sections in between. The majority of our guided trips however are comprised of Lake Hickory, Lake Norman and Lake Wylie. Each of these bodies of water have their own unique signature as to the species of fish targeted, time of year fished and techniques used. We fish the river sections as well as the impoundments.

What We Fish For

Jason has studied martial arts for forty years, and has trained in Karate, Judo and JuJistu. Having once been told by Sensei Patrick Auge that Master Minoru Mochizuki, the founder of Yoseikan, said it was not advantageous to specialize but to be well rounded in all the arts. Jason has taken this advice to heart and has adapted it to his approach to fishing. That said, Jason is an all-arounder. We target most all the game fish that inhabit the Catawba system, to include: Hybrid/Stripe Bass, Smallmouth/Spotted Bass, Crappies, Blue Cats, Flatheads and Channel Catfish. At times during the year we also do bluegill and shell cracker (red eared sunfish) trips.

Our Techniques

We’ve earned a reputation for the ability to catch, keep and fish live bait. This would include using downrods, slip floats, flatlines, and planerboards. We’ve found it easier to feed them than to fool them. Live bait fishing is exciting and fun. Nothing beats watching a float be taken down by a hungry monster. We catch our own bait, usually the morning of the trip. We have Xtreme Bait Systems tanks and rig tackle to suit the targeted species to ensure a great day of angling. On the artificial side of things, we use a vast array of plastic/hair jigs, plugs, spoons and other assorted fishing lures. Our artificial techniques include trolling for crappies and hybrids/stripers. We jig perch on spoons as well as top water for spotted/smallmouth bass. We personally tie an assortment of crappie jigs using a myriad of materials and colors.

Instructional Trips

We are currently doing instructional trips that cover several areas. Interested in how to rig up rods/reels and tackle? Let us spend some time getting you rigged and ready to start your own fishing adventures. Want to learn how to catch live bait? Throw a cast net? Prepare and operate bait keeping equipment? Lets us get you started out right with the lessons that prove their worth everyday on our Adventures. We do Garmin LiveScope! LiveScope is the hottest sonar out there. It is amazing the images and information that LiveScope provides. We can show you how to set up and use LiveScope to find and catch more fish.
